Bad Blogger...

Here is my most awesome package that my wonderful HSKS3 pal Tia sent me over a month ago! I know I suck, but I my camera died a horrible death and I had to take some more pictures.

So here are a few. She sent me a beautifully made booga bag in my Hufflepuff colors, beautiful Lorna's Laces sock yarn in "Bee Stripe" colorway, a set of US1 DPN's-they are small and adorable! A Cookie A pattern (I'm scared but excited!)
Look at the cute plates too!! And the mini Hedwig and HP treats-I was so spoiled.

So here are my pictures, late but up, finally. So sorry Tia:(

Been Crazy!

With the first week of November sneaking up on me I've been unable to dutifully post all of my wonderful pictures of the package Tia sent me as well as of the package that Pen sent me from the Football swap. I'm a bad blogger, no cookie!

Luckily, I have had time to complete a few projects: 1 Blueberry Waffle Sock, 1 roll brim hat for my nephew (if 4 days--I'm feeling very good about this one), and a cabled newsboy hat for my sister. I'm bound and determined to get pictures of all of these to post but with enrolling in school, looking for a new job and working at my current job have made my life a little hectic. I'm hoping to make a list (they rock) and get my rear in some kind of gear!

More later...

Cast On

Just cast on for the Cabled Newsboy Cap last week and it is coming along nicely. I'm using the magic loop method which I really enjoy--can't wait to try that out on socks as well as trying two socks on two circs. Luckily I think I may have enough sock yarn to last me...especially since I just bought my first skein of Socks That Rock in the Little Bunny Foo Foo colorway--so excited!

Check out my first pair of socks!! They are short and small (I have size 5 feet) and these babies have given me the sock bug. My feet shall never be cold again.

And check out these little football stitch markers I made for my Football Along partner--I had to make some for myself too!

Clay is fun! It doesn't smell like the Play-Doh I used to play with, plus I get to put them in the oven to bake (like a big kid).

Sock Problems

I had to frog my entire second sock last night...it was sad. I had that thing on my needles for two months and I finally was able to work on it and what do I do? In the words of Knitty D and the City--it was FAST and WRONG! I was on a roll and thought I was going to cast off by this weekend until I noticed last night that my heel was a bit short--not a bit, a lot short. After checking out my pattern, I realized that I only had made the heel flap 1/4" instead of 2 and 1/4" inch--so not cool. I frogged back to the heel and decided to go the whole length since I kinda stink at picking up stitches. Looking on the bright side: I could use the extra practice...

Finished Project !!

Finally finished the Irish Hiking Scarf and in less than a month. No mind that it took at least six hours a week (not including weekends) to complete this project but it's done!!

Also I purchased my supplies for my knitting bag for my HSKS3 partner and also made a couple of extras for her and my football along partner. I'd say more but don't want to ruin the surprise! As soon as I'm sure my swapee's get the packages I'll post pictures.

Stash Purge

Recently I've acquired some serious amounts of acyrilic yarn-like about 50-75 skeins. This is more acyrilic than anyone should have and I want to get rid of it. Most of it is brand new with the label still in good condition. I did the Cubs for Kids project with it (from the Football-along)so I think it would be perfect for charity knitting of this nature. If anyone out there wants a couple of skeins I would be happy to send them along to you for free. Glad to have them go to someone who will use it! Shipping could get a bit expensive if I get a lot of people wanting, so if you feel it in the depths of your heart to send a couple of bucks for shipping costs I'd be most grateful. :)
If you would like a couple of skeins please leave a comment with your email and I'll contact you to get your shipping info.

Cheers!

Comments

Don't know how to respond to comments left by anyone on my post so I'll just do it here (I will get this blog thing down eventually:))

First, Thanks Tia for leaving me some comments--I'm excited to get to know you this month and although I'm not a fan of Halloween, I do love how all of the candy are wrapped individually and then put in monster bags. I bought four bags last year, had 2 trick-or-treaters and had a wonderful November:)

Second, to 'Wings', no I'm not in the irish hiking scarf KAL, I should join it but I'm actually close to being finished. I need to start checking these things before starting a project--great way to meet new people!!

Thanks for all the comments--I'm shocked that anyone is even reading my blog!!

Happy Labor Day

HSKS3 Questionnaire

1. What Hogwarts house have you been sorted into?
Hufflepuff!!
2. List your favorite double-point needle brands, including size and length. Or would you prefer circulars?
Right now I only own some aluminum ones, so I am completely open to anything new although I'd love to try something unique. I've never knit socks on circulars but I've been wanting to learn to avoid that "second sock" syndrome :)
3. Would you like to try a new brand needle? If so, which brand? Size? Length? I would love to try anything new and will be thrilled with whatever my partner chooses. I do prefer shorter needles (because my feet are a bit small, size 5)
4. If you are a RAVENCLAW, do you prefer the colors in the film or the book? Do you have a strong preference?
I'm a Hufflepuff :)
5. Do you have any allergies?
No allergies to food or fiber--bring on the chocolate and wool!!
6. If you are swapping scarves - what is your desired length for the pattern? This will help your partner find the pattern that is just right for you and buy yarn accordingly.
Socks for me thanks ;)

Swap Partners

Yippee!! Got an email from Tiapixy (isn't that a cute name) and she told my who my swap partners are (Tia will be sending to me and I'll be sending to Laurie). I'm so excited and have had to make myself work instead of surfing the web trying to find Ravenclaw related items. I'm so excited for the swap, and the fact that someone posted a tutorial on how to make stitch markers (which by the way I don't own a single stitch marker--shameful) so I'm super pumped and feeling that small creative streak in me coming out. :)

Tonight I hope to have a nice list of questions for Laurie to get to know her so I guess I'd better work on that...more later.

And finally, that sweater set is on it's way to Jen at the Football-Along. It's been sitting here patiently on my table waiting for me to go to the post office (which for some reason I really hate doing). Off it goes to NY--goodbye first sweater I ever knit, have a happy life.

Let the swapping begin!

I'm awaiting an email from my prefect to find out who my swap partners will be for HSKS3--so pumped! I swear I've never checked my email so much before in my life. I know it's because it's my first swap so this means that I will actually be interacting with other knitters as opposed to just knitting along virtually. I've already been surfing the web to see what goodies are out there since my city is too far away from a BIG city (I'm in Vero Beach, FL). Although I may just have to take a trip up to Orlando or down to West Palm...

Tonight I work on the never-ending Irish Hiking Scarf trying to finish it before I hole myself up for the weekend and watch season 1 of Heroes!

Halfway Point...

that is where I am on the Irish Hiking Scarf. Exactly two weeks working on it, which is a lot but since it is my first cable project I'm feeling pretty good about myself. :)

Three more days until the HSKS3 sign-ups end and then I'll be partnered with someone--I'm oh so excited!

Thursday, August 23, 2007

The Weasley Clock Afghan from Charmed Knits that will most likely be completed around this time in 2008 or 2009 (seriously, I hope I can finish before then)!
This is the first time I've ever attempted intarsia so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will not end up looking lacey.

The never ending socks that I'm desperate to finish since I just bought three more skeins of sock yarn (shame on me)

The Irish Hiking Scarf that will be a present for my father (and hope to have completed by September 27th)...

My teddy bear sweater for my Football Along in 49ers colors...not too shabby for my first sweater if I do say so.

Hogwarts Sock Kit Swap 3

All signed up for the third Hogwarts Sock Kit Swap and they are still taking students who dig socks! :)

August 29th is the last day so head on over there (<= check out my button) before it's too late!!

Long Time...

It's been so long since I've posted but have kept the knitting going! I've finished my teddy bear scarf and sweater for my Football Along and need to take pictures tonight and post them on my blog so I can send them off. The sweater is cute but I'm not sure why they chose a stockinette stitch for the scarf because it just rolls up so much--oh well, since it took me like 2 hours if they don't like it they can toss it.

I've also been working on my Irish Hiking Scarf that will be a present for my dad this coming September. I'm trying desperately to finish it before my parents come to visit--17 inches done and only 38 inches to go...putting it like that does not sound so encouraging. :)

My socks haven't been touched but I have purchased two more skeins of sock yarn--so bad of me but I had to! The colorways were dyed after the Knight Bus from HP and the other from Giles from Buffy TVS. How could I pass it up? Finally I can also start my project for my Buffy KAL.

Lastly, I've tried to sign up for the next Hogwarts Sock Kit Swap. I'm crossing my fingers that I can get in because I'm so excited.

Really hoping to get those pictures posted tonight!!

Preseason Charity Challenge

Got our first challenge for the Football-Along and I'm well on my way to making sure that teddy bear is warm! I'll be knitting a sweater, hat and scarf for a teddy bear that will be given to a child for Cubs For Kids. I had been looking for charities to knit for and this one had missed my eye but I'm glad I know about it now. I have way to much yarn (from a garage sale) that is good for something like this (it's all acrylic).

The first set will be in 49ers colors and I've already completed half of the back of the sweater. This is the first sweater I've ever done so I'm thinking it will be a good practice run before I get enough guts to start my own sweater. I have until August 31st so I think I'm doing alright so far--just gotta find a few extra minutes to put some stitches on my other projects!!

Pictures of the niners sweater will be coming soon.

WIP's

Thankfully I only have a couple of projects in progress (will add pictures when I figure out how to--I can admit that I'm a little computer stupid).

The first one is a pair of socks that I've been working on for about 2 months. I'm about halfway through the second one but I really feel if I pick it up again it won't take me too long (seriously, Kris just pick up the sock again)!

The other is a fabulous (at least in the pictures) afghan of the Weasley clock from the Charmed Knits book. Which by the way is a wonderful book and should be picked up immediately if one is a knitter and fan of Harry Potter.

This is a promise to myself to get a small fire under my booty and finish my projects--especially since I'm getting ready to start my first knitalong which I'm super excited about!!

Thursday, July 26, 2007

This is my first post on my first blog--it's crazy since I said I would never do something like this. Oh, well. Hopefully, this will help me keep track of projects and thoughts throughout the years.

Happy blogging to me!
