A Little Bit of Spinning Does a Heart Good

Been consistently working on spinning up some Superwash Merino for a pair of socks. This will be my first attempt and because it is my first time I'm finding that I'll have to have a pair of socks with different color heels and toes (and maybe cuffs). Still working on the singles at this time (pictures to follow) but I'm hoping to finish those today and begin some navajo plying this weekend. The last go at n-plying was shaky so I want to make sure I have PLENTY of time set aside so I don't have to stop in the middle. I seem to have a really tough time picking up where I left off with this technique.

On the movie front there has been a serious influx of activity. Wednesday night we watched Sherlock Holmes. It was entertaining but moved a little slow for my taste, although I do love watching Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law go back and forth in an English accent. I'd watch it again and am hoping the sequel turns out better since the first movie always has a lot of set up of characters.

Last night we watched a kids movie (it's a bit too shameful to name) and let's just say that it was really bad and leave it at that:)

This is Easter weekend and I hope everyone has nice weather and good times with family and friends!

Stomach issues but knitting accomplished

Home all day sick with either an inflamed appendix or an ovarian cyst (no diagnosis, just pain). Although painful, is it bad that I'm happy to make serious progress on my Mixed Berry Waffle Socks? All while watching the Food Network and Top Chef as well as finishing a book and starting another...not sure I get this much accomplished on a regular work day!

Back on the blogging boat?

It's been five (that's right) five long months since I have purchased yarn... Why you ask? That's because when I did my 101 in 1001 list one of my goals was to not purchase yarn until Stitches South 2010. What was I thinking?! The last couple of months the diet was easy, I was too busy to get onto Ravelry, going through my stash was exciting and brought loads of possibilities, but now...now I'm aching for a wooly purchase. What's a girl to do? Should I add another FAIL to my 101 in 1001 list, or should I tough it out? I only have two more LONG months....long stressful months. What to do, what to do...

Oh Tuesdays...

They aren't fun! It's starting to pick up at work again which is nice but not really exciting per say.I like to be busy but I don't like to be stressed which is what we're bordering on this week.

I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week...how did this happen?!? I'm desperately trying to finish my sister's cabled felted bag and I still need to spin up some yarn for my mom for Christmas, and shockingly I'm running out of time.

Hey Universe, can I just get a few more hours in the day, preferably with sunlight? Thanks:)

Spinning fun

Yesterday I spent some time spinning a beautiful superwash merino roving in the colorway Black Coffee. I received it from my sister for my birthday and it's a joy to spin! Even though I LOVE knitting with alpaca, I think I enjoy spinning merino more than anything else (but to be fair I haven't spun much else except for other merino blends). Pictures to come...hopefully.

Halloween is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than a vampire film. Here's a great article on a film every vamp lover will enjoy. Thanks to Joss Whedon I'm a big fan of the pointy-fanged genre (even though everything has gotten a bit out of hand thanks to Twilight) and I want everyone to see Let the Right One In. Even it you are not a lover of foreign films this one is worth watching because it really is that good.

In knitting, the Fake Isle Hat from my handspun is complete-hooray! Still plugging along on the cable felted bag for my sister--7.5" out of 20" done. I think I can, I think I can.

It's been a long, long time...

Much has been happening since my last post (which I think was like 2 years ago?!) My knitting experience has expanded, I've gotten a Ladybug spinning wheel and have been playing with that, and DH, his friends and I have started a new movie website Flix66. It's amazing how life can change so drastically in such a short amount of time.

Right now most of my time is consumed by previously mentioned website and although that is exciting and new, I'm having a tough time trying to balance everything I want to do with my life right now. There are so many things I want to try, learn and read that it's becoming a bit overwhelming. I have a constant to-do list that gets longer but not so much shorter...is this normal? I find myself thinking "Gee, would getting the flu be so bad? I mean I could spend a couple of days coughing, sneezing and sleeping plus get some knitting done as well as watch some movies--what's the biggie?" Somehow this train of thought seems very wrong. So I'm going to try and blog more often about my goals and accomplishment and probably do some linkage to my writing, which is gradually (very gradually) improving with each article/review. So here's the first link: He Said/She Said: Sex and the City this is one of my personal favorites and I really enjoy the actual column--a different perspective from opposite genders. Hooray!

Bad Blogger...

Here is my most awesome package that my wonderful HSKS3 pal Tia sent me over a month ago! I know I suck, but I my camera died a horrible death and I had to take some more pictures.

So here are a few. She sent me a beautifully made booga bag in my Hufflepuff colors, beautiful Lorna's Laces sock yarn in "Bee Stripe" colorway, a set of US1 DPN's-they are small and adorable! A Cookie A pattern (I'm scared but excited!)
Look at the cute plates too!! And the mini Hedwig and HP treats-I was so spoiled.

So here are my pictures, late but up, finally. So sorry Tia:(
